"The Master of Modern Mezzotint" - Yozo Hamaguchi explores and captures both the vital force and fragility of ordinary objects, which harmoniously co-exist within the confines of his canvas. Ladybirds, butterflies, cherries and other common fruits and vegetables are recurring themes in his art throughout the entirety of his career.

Hamaguchi’s work is in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Bibliothèque nationale de France, the Art Institute of Chicago, the British Museum, the National Gallery in Washington DC, the Wakayama Museum of Modern Art, the Musée Hamaguchi Yozo: Yamasa collection in Tokyo, and in numerous other private and public collections worldwide.
